Big Mac Pizza
This Big Mac Pizza may sound unconventional, but it will take you by surprise—it’s that good! It’s a firm favorite among our guests.
After experimenting with various sauce recipes and toppings, I finally created one that truly captures the original burger’s flavor. The first time people try it, they often say, ‘Oh, wow!’ Many even say they prefer it to the burger itself. Whenever we have guests over, I always end up making at least two Big Mac Pizzas because the slices disappear so quickly!
What You Need
Here’s what I put on my Big Mac Pizza:
- Big Mac copycat sauce (see below)
- Sesame seeds to sprinkle around the outside of the crust, just like the original burger buns
- Finely diced white onion
- American cheese slices—I get ours from Costco
- Lean ground beef—I crumble it into small, fine pieces instead of forming a burger patty, which would feel too heavy on a pizza
- Fresh mozzarella—torn or cut into small pieces
- Iceberg lettuce—just like the kind used in a Big Mac Burger; the outer leaves are the best choice, as they’re crispier and have a brighter color.
- Dill pickle slices—also just like those in the original Big Mac Burger
How to Make this Big Mac Pizza
Preparing the Pizza
In a small bowl, mix all the Big Mac sauce ingredients until they are well combined. You can prepare this a day in advance. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat, then add the ground beef. I use a wooden spoon to break the meat into small, crumbly pieces as it cooks, making it easier to sprinkle onto the pizza later. Stir occasionally until the beef is browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat thoroughly.
If you’re preparing this in advance, transfer the beef to a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator.
Assembling the Pizza
Lay your prepared homemade pizza dough base out with the olive oil and salt already applied to the outer edges of the crust. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the olive oil and salt.
Use a spoon to spread the Big Mac sauce evenly over the pizza base.
Sprinkle the finely diced white onion evenly over the top.
Lay the American cheese slices in a circle around the pizza base. I usually put one in the middle as well so the base is covered completely.
Sprinkle the ground beef over the top of the cheese.
Spread the shredded mozzarella on top of the ground beef.
Cook the pizza.
Once cooked, add the shredded iceberg lettuce, followed by the dill pickles. I try to ensure that each slice will get one dill pickle.
When to Cut and Serve
This Big Mac Pizza can be cut and served immediately. I typically slice it into 12 pieces when serving a crowd or 8 pieces when there’s no rush for the first pizza!
I love seeing people try eating a slice of this pizza for the first time! You’ll be asked to make this one again and again.
What About Leftovers? (Leftovers?!)
If you happen to have any leftover slices, you can store them in an airtight container or cover a plate with plastic wrap. They’ll keep fresh in the refrigerator for up to three days.
